Summary

When Red Company teamed up with Hudson Soft in 1992, they handed the PC Engine Super‑CD to manga artist Mika Akitaka, who not only designed the characters but also wrote the script for what would become the first public Yuna title. The game, known as Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna or simply Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, reads like a digitized comic book: a visual‑novel framework packed with a thousand illustrations, an hour of animated cut‑scenes, and a handful of vocal tracks that give it an OVA‑like flair. Gameplay pauses the story for turn‑based RPG battles, letting you command Yuna and her crew through classic, menu‑driven combat. Its blend of dialogue‑heavy adventure and occasional fights set a template for the early‑90s galge boom, and the sheer volume of art and voice work still feels lavish for a TurboGrafx‑CD title.

Storyline

Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna follows 16‑year‑old high‑schooler Yuna Kagurazaka in the year 2299. After winning the intergalactic Galactic Bishōjo (or Galaxy Fraulein) Contest, she is appointed by the mysterious Matrix of Light entity Elner as the Savior of Light and receives a powerful armored Light Suit. Guided by Elner, Yuna must track down three other Matrix fragments—Erina of the Sky, Jina of the Land, and Marina of the Sea—each granting her new abilities such as flight, enhanced ground speed and firepower, and underwater travel. By rescuing these allies and merging their powers with her suit, she can form the 21‑meter giant robot El‑Line to battle the Queen of Darkness and the Thirteen Frauleins of Darkness who threaten galactic domination.
