Summary

Choujikuu Yousai Macross 2036, often just called Macross 2036, drops you into a fast‑paced side‑scrolling shooter that rides the TurboGrafx‑CD’s CD‑audio capabilities. The game leans heavily into the iconic Macross aesthetic, layering bright mecha designs over a soundtrack that feels ripped straight from an early‑90s anime opening. While the core mechanics feel familiar to anyone who’s piloted a scrolling shooter, the CD format lets the title sprinkle in richer voice clips and layered music that give each battle a surprisingly cinematic feel. Developed and published by Masaya, the title showcases the studio’s knack for marrying solid arcade‑style action with the extra polish that only a CD‑based system could provide.
