Play Power Gate Online

Summary

Power Gate is a side‑scrolling shoot ’em up that feels like a hidden gem from the early ’90s TurboGrafx‑16 library. Though it never made it outside Japan, the game’s relentless pacing and crisp sprite work give it a distinct personality among its contemporaries. Developed by the modest studio Make and published by Pack‑In‑Video, it showcases the experimental spirit of that era’s scrolling shooters.

Playing Power Gate, you’re thrust into a nonstop barrage of enemies that demand quick reflexes and precise movement. The level design pushes the screen’s limits, creating a sense of speed that still feels fresh today. Even without a Western release, the title remains a fascinating snapshot of Japan‑only arcade‑inspired design.
