Summary

Override is a vertically scrolling shooter for the PC Engine that lets you boost your primary cannon by grabbing “P” items and unleash a charged blast when you hold fire idle. A colorful gem system adds a layer of strategy: each hue grants a different secondary weapon, and matching gems power that weapon further. Sting Entertainment’s debut title, the game was later re‑imagined for the X68000 under the name Last Battalion, released as a free one‑stage demo on the developer’s site. In 2007 G‑Mode brought the original PC Engine version to the Wii Virtual Console, but only for Japanese players. Critics gave Override mixed to positive marks – Famitsu scored it 30/40, Computer and Video Games 80%, and Joystick 82% – while fan polls placed it modestly in the mid‑range of PC Engine favorites.
