Summary
New Adventure Island puts Master Higgins on a frantic rescue mission right after his wedding to Tina. When the villainous Baron Bronsky kidnaps the bride and six island children, Higgins must hop between hidden islands, each sheltering one captive. The game feels like the classic Adventure Island run-and-jump formula, but adds a few twists: you can earn bonus points by completing a stage on a skateboard, and you’ll find four distinct weapons—axe, boomerang, arrows and occasional fireballs hidden inside eggs. Some eggs also hide a rare PC-Engine controller item that grants a 2,000-point boost. Released for the TurboGrafx-16 in 1992 and later resurrected on Virtual Console and PlayStation Network, the title earned praise for its crisp graphics and nostalgic yet fresh platforming, pleasing longtime fans of Hudson’s series.
Storyline
New Adventure Island on the TurboGrafx‑16 kicks off right after Master Higgins and Tina exchange vows. As they walk out of the church, the mysterious Baron Bronsky and his six henchmen swoop in, snatching Tina and a group of island children.
The game puts you in Higgins’ shoes for a frantic rescue across six distinct stages. Each stage is split into four areas, with the fourth area serving as a boss fight that must be cleared before moving on.
After freeing the children in the earlier zones, Higgins storms Baron Bronsky’s fortress, defeats the final boss, and finally reunites with Tina.
