Summary

Moto Roader lets you line up with four friends for a five‑player futuristic sprint, a rarity on the TurboGrafx‑16. Every win drops cash you can spend on upgrades – swapping tires, swapping bodies, or bolting on special parts like the high‑jump "hopper" or a speed‑boosting "nitro" kit. The track isn’t just about speed; you can hurl a forward‑firing "grenade" or drop a rear‑ward "bomber" to knock rivals off course, turning each of the eight heats into a chaotic cat‑and‑mouse chase for the championship. The game spawned two sequels, Moto Roader 2 and Moto Roader MC, and later resurfaced on the Wii Virtual Console in 2007 and the Wii U eShop in 2014‑2017. Critics were split – scores ranged from a solid 86% in Joystick to a low 2/10 in Eurogamer – yet it still sold over 1,300 copies in its debut month in Japan and earned a modest spot in a 1993 PC Engine fan poll.
