Summary

Mahjong Gokuu Special is a quirky four‑player Mahjong title that pulls its characters straight from the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. On the TurboGrafx‑16, the game lets you sit around a virtual table with three friends, each controlling a monk, a pig, a monkey or a dragon as they battle for the best hand. What makes it stand out is the way the familiar mahjong tiles are dressed up with whimsical sprites that echo the story’s legendary figures, turning a traditional tile‑matching session into a light‑hearted showdown. The controls feel surprisingly smooth for a console mahjong, and the split‑screen layout keeps everyone in the loop without breaking the flow.
