Summary
Gekisha Boy turns the TurboGrafx-16 into a moving photo studio, letting you wander through lively stages with a camera instead of a gun. You guide the lanky photographer David as odd events unfold around you, and the challenge is to snap the perfect shot before anything knocks you off your feet. Each successful snap rewards you with extra film, a speed boost, and even larger lenses that let you capture more of the chaos. The game constantly pushes you to balance curiosity with caution, because a stray obstacle can end your roll.
Progress isn’t just about surviving; you need to hit a score target to unlock the next area. The scoring system rewards creativity, so the more unusual the moment you capture, the higher your points. It’s a quirky blend of action and photography that feels fresh even decades after its original release.
Storyline
Gekisha Boy follows the story of David Goldman, an amateur photographer studying at Los Angeles Photography School with the dream of becoming a great photographer. His life takes a dark turn when his parents are killed in a plane crash, leaving him orphaned, grieving, and on the brink of abandoning his studies. The school’s principal, known as the Dean, notices David’s despair and offers him a chance to stay: he must complete eight tests by taking eight special photograph shots in eight different locations. If he succeeds, he will be allowed to graduate from the academy. Determined despite his sorrow, David accepts the challenge and sets out to capture the required images.
