Summary

Gaia no Monshō, sometimes called the Crest of Gaia, brings classic fantasy strategy to the TurboGrafx‑16 with a clean, round‑based combat system. You command units across a grid, positioning troops and striking adjacent enemies, while an Auto Battle option lets the AI handle the next move if you prefer a more relaxed pace.

The game splits into three distinct modes. Scenario Mode drops you straight into a pre‑set battle with ready‑made forces, perfect for quick skirmishes. Construction Mode hands you a pool of unit points to assemble a custom army, letting you experiment with different unit mixes before committing to combat. Campaign Mode weaves a longer narrative that begins in the besieged town of Dirl, where King Sieghart faces the fearsome Böser; here you must build your forces from scratch, and any units lost stay lost, adding weight to each decision. A password system lets you pick up the campaign where you left off, preserving progress across sessions.

Storyline

In Gaia no Monshou, the world is torn apart by a relentless clash between Light and Dark forces. Böser, the ruthless commander of the Dark Army, has set his sights on the Rall Tower—a mystical beacon that fuels the planet’s energy. Capturing the tower would give the darkness total control and plunge the kingdom into ruin. Standing in his way is Sieghart, the steadfast leader of the Light army, who alone can stop Böser’s advance and prevent the realm’s complete decimation.
