Summary
Chew-Man-Fu (often just called Chew Man Fu) throws you into a quirky maze‑puzzle action where you roll four magical balls to matching colored squares while fending off a zoo of oddball enemies—porcupines, penguins, apes and the like. The balls bounce off walls, keep moving after hitting foes, and can even be nudged around corners, letting you smash through obstacles and push the player back a step for extra challenge. Each single‑screen level is packed with bright, detailed sprites and an oriental‑flavored soundtrack that keeps the pace lively, and a two‑player Kick‑Ball mini‑game doubles as a practice arena for mastering the control scheme. The original TurboGrafx‑16 release also offered a level editor, though it lacked a save function, and passwords let you pick up where you left off across its five worlds and 550 rounds. Over the years the title has resurfaced on mobile, the Wii Virtual Console, Wii U, and the PC Engine Mini, earning praise for its addictive simplicity and colorful design while drawing occasional criticism for its repetitive visuals and limited editor features.
