Summary

Bomberman '94 on the TurboGrafx‑16 refreshes the series with the sleek white Bomberman skin and a handful of fresh mechanics. The maze set is divided into six distinctive arenas — Jammin’ Jungle, Vexin’ Volcano, Slammin’ Sea, Crankin’ Castle, Thrashin’ Tundra, and the artificial comet of Bagular — each packed with soft blocks that drop eggs. Hopping on those eggs lets you mount one of five Louie‑type creatures, each granting a unique ability, from extra speed to shielded blasts. The multiplayer suite expands to tag‑team battles on ten specially designed stages, while the HuCard format marks Hudson Soft’s last original PC Engine launch.

Storyline

Bomberman '94 (TurboGrafx‑16) drops players onto the shattered world of Planet Bomber. The planet’s inhabitants once lived in harmony, guarded by five ancient spirits whose power came from the Spirit Pictures. The peace is shattered when the evil Buglear—also known as Bagular—and his Robot Army launch an invasion, destroying the Spirit Pictures and breaking the planet into five floating fragments. Bomberman arrives as the lone hero tasked with retrieving the scattered Spirit Pictures. By restoring each picture, he re‑assembles Planet Bomber and ends the tyrant’s reign.
