Summary

X‑Zone is a first‑person rail shooter for the Super NES that requires the Super Scope. Players roam through the X‑Termination zone, blasting robot adversaries and incoming projectiles while a light‑gun cursor tracks their aim. Each stage builds toward a boss encounter in which individual weapon systems must be targeted and disabled, adding a layer of pattern‑recognition beyond ordinary shooting galleries. Reviewers praised its varied enemy design and the way it put the Super Scope to good use; Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it three 8/10 marks and a 7, calling it fun and challenging. European magazines echoed the mixed reception, ranging from solid 70 % scores in Total! to lower marks in GamesMaster, but most agreed the game was a notable early showcase for the peripheral.

Storyline

In X‑Zone, you step into the boots of a lone soldier equipped with a high‑tech flying power‑armor. The mission is clear: take down a rogue army of defense robots that have gone haywire. These machines are being directed by a sentient bio‑computer that has suddenly declared war on humanity. As the armored pilot, you navigate hostile environments, blasting through waves of malfunctioning droids while uncovering the bio‑computer’s motives. The game’s narrative drives you forward, pitting human ingenuity against a self‑aware machine uprising.
