Summary
Vegas Stakes pulls you straight into the glitz of a Vegas high‑roller’s life. Starting with just $1,000, you can roam five distinct casinos – from The Hideaway to the sparkling Laurel Palace – trying to turn the stake into $10 million. Every table offers a classic – blackjack, roulette, craps, slots, and seven‑card stud poker – and when your total hits $100 000 the exclusive Laurel Palace finally unlocks.
Random patrons stroll by, striking up conversation; some will beg for a loan, others sell odd trinkets, and depending on your response you might gain a boost or suddenly lose half your cash. You also pick a friend to sit beside you who explains each game’s rules and even gives betting tips. For SNES owners the game supports the Super NES Mouse and includes a multiplayer mode, though poker is disabled there to keep cards hidden.
Storyline
In Vegas Stakes, the adventure begins with a car rolling into Las Vegas, where the player is handed a modest $1,000 to gamble. Along the way, four friends—Cliff, Maria, Isabelle, and Richard—are introduced, each eager to join the high‑stakes fun.
The single‑player objective is simple yet daunting: turn that thousand dollars into $10 million across the city’s casinos. Should the bankroll hit zero, the game ends with a stark image of a man showing his empty pockets.
The SNES version adds quirky moments, like a patron pretending to wipe a spot off the player’s shirt only to try a pickpocket. At the finale, players can type what they’ll do with their fortune, and the game later confirms that wish came true as a couple drives up to a casino bearing the player’s name.
