Summary

Ultima: Runes of Virtue II (often called Runes of Virtue 2) picks up where the Game Boy original left off, launching on both the SNES and its handheld cousin. The Black Knight, bored out of his mind, kidnaps Lord Tholden, prompting Lord British to enlist the Avatar for a rescue mission that restores peace to Britannia.

The game stays true to its action‑RPG roots, letting you pick one of four distinct characters each with their own strengths. To suit different play styles, developers included three selectable difficulty levels, so newcomers can dip their toes in while veterans can seek a tougher grind. Its seamless blend of fast‑paced combat and classic Ultima exploration makes it a nostalgic yet fresh chapter in the series.

Storyline

Ultima: Runes of Virtue II picks up where its predecessor left off, keeping the same top‑down action‑RPG feel that made the first game a hit. The story launches when the bored Black Knight snatches Lord Tholden, throwing Britannia into chaos.

Lord British tasks the Avatar with rescuing the captive noble and restoring peace across the land. Players can choose from four distinct heroes, each with its own strengths and quirks. The game also offers three difficulty settings, letting newcomers and veterans alike find a suitable challenge.

The journey blends puzzle solving, combat, and exploration as you track the Black Knight’s lair. Completing the rescue brings the kingdom back to stability and wraps up the sequel’s narrative.
