Summary

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun pulls its story from the classic Belgian comic, but the levels travel far beyond the Andes, sending Tintin to a series of worldwide locales.

Gameplay is classic 2‑D platforming; Tintin moves left‑right, jumps and can instantly toggle between a foreground track and a deeper background layer, creating hidden shortcuts and extra hazards. A ticking clock forces a brisk pace, and every level demands you reach the exit before time runs out.

Tintin never picks up a weapon – any character, from teenage girls to stern security guards, will try to knock him down. Success hinges on memorising enemy placement, learning each pattern and timing your jumps to slip past them.

Visually and mechanically the game feels like a spiritual successor to Infogrames’ 1995 SNES title Tintin in Tibet, using the same smooth animation style and responsive controls.

Storyline

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun for the SNES adapts Hergé’s classic comics The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun. The game follows the same adventure, bringing Tintin’s quest to rescue Professor Calculus from an Incan temple to the console. It stays true to the source material, using the original storylines as its basis.
