Summary

Superstar Soccer 2 – Ronaldinho 97 (often just called Ronaldinho 97) is a quirky soccer title that re‑imagines the classic International Superstar Soccer Deluxe engine with a Brazilian twist. The game swaps out the original rosters for a lineup of Brazilian clubs, giving fans a chance to control their favorite South American sides in a familiar arcade‑style setting.

What made this hack stand out was its regional appeal: throughout the 1990s it became a staple in South American arcades and living rooms, where players celebrated the chance to see local teams rendered with the same fast‑paced gameplay that made the original a hit. Its popularity spread largely through word‑of‑mouth and copy‑circulation, turning it into a cult favorite among fans of retro football games.

Beyond the team swap, the core mechanics remain true to International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, preserving the tight controls, quick passes, and exaggerated goal celebrations that defined the series. In short, Ronaldinho 97 offers a nostalgic glimpse of 90s soccer gaming, filtered through a distinctly Brazilian lens.
