Summary

Super Bomberman finally brought the classic bomb‑planting chaos to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, marking the series' debut on the console. It also broke new ground as the first four‑player title the SNES ever supported, letting friends compete or cooperate on a single screen. The game preserves the simple yet strategic core of placing timed explosives to clear obstacles and defeat rivals, while the extra controller ports add a lively, chaotic multiplayer experience. Even single‑player mode benefits from the refined graphics and expanded stage variety that the 16‑bit hardware provides. Fans appreciate how the title demonstrates the SNES’s early push toward true couch multiplayer, a milestone that still feels fresh in modern retrospectives.

Storyline

In Super Bomberman, the quiet Peace Town sits far south of the gleaming metropolis Diamond City. Evil mastermind Carat Diamond, aided by the scientist Dr. Mook, stages a Robot Tournament, fielding machines built for sheer destruction. They fabricate a counterfeit Bomberman to kidnap the real hero, while the genuine Black Bomberman rushes to stop the ruse. He is defeated, his castle seized, but manages to escape and seek shelter with White Bomberman, warning him of Diamond’s scheme.

Together the two Bombermen confront wave after wave of hostile robots marching toward Peace Town. United, they must dismantle Diamond’s army, expose the fake Bomberman, and put an end to the villain’s plot to steal Bomberman’s combat tech.
