Summary
Street Fighter II Turbo – often just called "Turbo" on the SNES – feels like the arcade’s most frantic chapter squeezed onto a 20‑megabit cartridge. The port keeps the original’s breakneck speed but adds a four‑step speed selector (and a hidden cheat that pushes it even farther), letting you dial the action up or down in a flash. In "Normal" mode you actually get the older Champion Edition experience, so the game doubles as a nostalgic throwback and a fresh challenge.
Every fighter, except Guile and the Grand Masters, gains at least one new special move: Ryu and Ken can spin a Hurricane Kick mid‑air, E. Honda lands a Super Body Slam, Blanka rolls vertically, Chun‑Li fires a Kikoken and spins a Bird Kick, Zangief adds a Turbo Clothesline, and Dhalsim teleports with Yoga Teleport. Their color palettes were refreshed too, with the original hues tucked away as alternates – M. Bison is the lone exception, keeping his classic look as the default.
Audio tweaks include the return of the announcer’s country call‑outs and the barrel‑breaking bonus stage, while the pitch‑shifted voice clips tied to move strength were stripped out. New post‑round shouts and more faithful ending graphics bring the SNES version closer to the arcade’s vibe.
Nintendo gave Turbo a second life in the 2017 Super NES Classic Edition, ensuring a new generation can still crank the speed and hear the iconic shouts of a worldwide showdown.
