Summary

The BS‑X cartridge, officially titled *BS‑X: Sore wa Namae o Nusumareta Machi no Monogatari*, doubles as a quirky hub and a functional menu for the Satellaview service. When I launch it, I’m greeted by a pastel‑colored town that feels like a love‑letter to EarthBound, complete with shops that act as download stations for games, magazines, and extra data stored on 8‑megabit memory packs.

Creating a male or female avatar lets me stroll through streets where I can pick up telephone cards, vehicle tickets, fish bait, or even shoes that turn my walk into a dash. The town’s Wall Newspaper Co. displays text‑only postcards from St.GIGA and Nintendo, announcing contest winners, upcoming broadcasts, and celebrity events tied to SoundLink Magazine.

All of this runs on extra RAM supplied by the cartridge, extending the Super Famicom’s capabilities beyond the base Satellaview unit. Though it lacks traditional challenges, the little narrative woven through the town makes the BS‑X feel more like an interactive magazine than a conventional game.
