Summary

Putty Squad lets you steer a shape‑shifting blue blob that can stretch sideways to zip across platforms, flatten to scoop up items, elongate upward to climb, morph a fist for a punch, or inflate to float. The blob’s versatility feels fresh with each new obstacle, turning simple jumps into playful puzzles.

Collecting stars fuels the blob’s attack: early stars boost the punch, later ones unlock darts, electric shocks, and even bomb throws, though every hit drains that power, keeping the challenge lively.

The game was originally built for the Amiga 1200 in 1994, but the console version for the Super Nintendo arrived first, making the SNES the only official release for nearly two decades. Cancelled Mega Drive and PC ports added a hint of mystery, while the long‑shelved Amiga build finally surfaced as a free Christmas gift in 2013, followed by a prototype Mega Drive leak in 2015.

A modern remake, titled Super Putty Squad, landed on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and later the Switch, but critics felt the core experience hadn’t aged well, giving it mixed scores despite a slightly kinder reception on the 3DS.
