Summary

Pro Sport Hockey (known in Japan as USA Ice Hockey) packs the entire 1992‑93 NHL season into a single cartridge, letting you control all 24 teams and 288 players, even the now‑defunct North Stars, Nordiques and Whalers. The rosters are fully licensed by the NHLPA, so legends like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Patrick Roy skate exactly as they did on the real ice.

The SNES version adds a practice mode where you can run exhibition drills or fire off a shootout, and a full‑season mode that feeds the Super Cup rankings based on your performance. The top‑down view scrolls vertically as the puck carrier pushes toward the net, keeping the action clear and fast‑paced.

A unique energy system drains player stamina; the more you rough up opponents, the more exhausted the goalie becomes, while turning the fatigue off essentially grants god‑mode defense. Penalties are enforced for off‑sides, icing, major infractions and even random misconducts, so even a cool‑headed Gretzky can be ejected.

Teams aren’t split by conference but by six equal groups, meaning a Western club can face an Eastern rival in the same pool, echoing international tournament formats. The AI tends to crowd the puck, making clean passes a challenge and adding a layer of strategy to every shift.
