Summary

Pokonyan! Henpokorin Adventure, known abroad as Rocky Raccat!, is a quirky platformer that landed on the Super Famicom in the mid‑90s. The game leans heavily on its anime roots, letting you control a cat‑tanuki hybrid who wields the mysterious Henpokorin power to shift shape on the fly. Each form tweaks your jump height and attack strength, turning a simple run‑and‑jump run into a small puzzle of when to morph for the best advantage.

The core loop feels refreshingly retro: sprint across colorful stages, time your jumps, and use the shape‑changing ability to clear obstacles or dispatch enemies. Along the way, Pokonyan gathers food items that stack up for a post‑level bonus, rewarding thorough exploration without breaking the pacing. Toho’s involvement as publisher gives the title a polished, TV‑show‑quality sheen that fans of the series will instantly recognize.

Even if you’ve never seen the cartoon, the game’s charm shines through its bright sprites and the playful mechanic of swapping forms. It’s a neat slice of Japanese platforming history that still feels oddly satisfying to master.

Storyline

In Poko Nyan! – Henpokorin Adventure (often just called Poko Nyan!), a mischievous gang of animals swipes the sweet treats belonging to Pokonyan’s human friend Miki Konoha. In the Rocky Raccat localization, Miki is renamed Amy. Determined to recover the goodies, Pokonyan darts off on a fast‑paced chase to retrieve the stolen snacks.
