Summary
Plok! is a quirky SNES platformer that lets you control a hood‑capped king who literally throws his own limbs to battle the flea hordes overrunning his island.
The four detachable arms and legs fly out as projectiles, snap back when they hit, and even serve as switches for puzzles when you sacrifice them on hanging racks.
Power‑ups come in the form of “presents” that temporarily dress Plok as cartoon‑style characters – a boxing‑glove fighter, a flamethrower vigilante, a blunderbuss‑wielding deerstalker, a cowboy, and even a rocket‑armed version – while the Fleapit level unlocks crazy vehicles such as a jetpack, a rocket‑truck and a bomb‑dropping helicopter.
You can pick up shells for lives and to fuel a buzzsaw‑like Speed Blade, or eat Magic Fruits that grow bigger the more you punch them, with golden ones instantly refilling health.
The game offers a Normal route and a “Child’s Play” mode that dials back enemy speed and health, and four token‑based Plokontinues let you restart from checkpoint positions after beating key bosses.
Storyline
In Plok, the titular king lives on Akrillic, a large island in the fictional archipelago of Polyesta. One morning he discovers his big square flag missing from the rooftop pole and spots it on nearby Cotton Island. He sails there, battles the giant Bobbins Brothers—creatures warned about by his grandfather—and recovers the flag. Returning home, Plok learns the theft was a ruse and that his island is now swarmed by blue, two‑legged “fleas.” Determined, he places the flag back and prepares to clear the infestation.
While resting on Grandpappy Plok’s statue foot, he falls asleep and dreams of his grandfather’s quest on Legacy Island, where Grandpappy also faced the Bobbins (and a third brother, Irving), solved odd puzzles, and found a magical amulet. Back in the present, Plok discovers the amulet at the statue base, giving him a charged buzzsaw jump. With this power he battles the island’s other foes: the floating Penkinos magicians, the spider Womack whose long legs are weak points, and Rockyfella, the angry spirit of the soil.
His final trek leads to the Fleapit, the source of the fleas, where he pilots weaponized vehicles and a secret super‑vehicle loaded with bug spray. He confronts the Flea Queen and defeats her, ending the outbreak. Victorious, Plok returns to Akrillic and collapses onto his green chair.
