Summary

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures (known in Japan as Hello! Pac‑Man) flips the classic maze formula into a side‑scrolling graphic adventure that feels more like a point‑and‑click cartoon. You don’t steer Pac‑Man directly; instead you act as an unseen helper, using a slingshot to nudge objects or even Pac‑Man himself so he notices what you want him to. Your shots affect his mood – a tasty apple makes him happy, a hit to the face irritates him – and his temperament decides how readily he follows your cues.

Each quest revolves around simple fetch‑type goals, but the puzzles hinge on reading Pac‑Man’s emotional state and timing your influences. When you feed him a Power Pellet from the inventory, he transforms into Super Pac‑Man, gaining speed and the ability to gobble ghosts, while chase segments in a hang‑glider or minecart test your reflexes.

The world is peppered with nods to the series: the four ghosts still appear to spook him, and hidden arcade cabinets let you drop into the original Pac‑Man or, after finding three secret cartridges, unlock a playable Ms. Pac‑Man mini‑game. All of this makes the SNES title a quirky, mood‑driven adventure that feels fresh despite its familiar characters.

Storyline

Pac-Man 2 - The New Adventures opens with Pac‑Man introducing himself and teaching the player the game’s point‑and‑click mechanics. From there the story becomes a string of loosely connected misadventures as Pac‑Man tries to help his family while the ghosts plot against him.
First, Pac‑Man is sent to fetch milk for Pac‑Baby from a nearby farm. Later Ms. Pac‑Man asks him to pick a special flower for Lucy, a friend of Pac‑Jr’s, and he uses a trolley ticket to glide into the mountains, dodging ghosts and boulders before returning to find the party already underway. When Pac‑Jr’s guitar is stolen by ghosts in Pac‑City, Pac‑Man takes a train, disguises himself as a security guard, and recovers the instrument.
In the final segment a news report reveals that the ghosts are stealing children’s ABC gum. The Ghost Witch of Netor hijacks the broadcast, creates a Gum Monster, and challenges Pac‑Man. Super Pac‑Man battles the monster in an abandoned factory, defeats it, and the Witch’s minions flee. Though the gum is lost, Pac‑Man is hailed as a hero by his town and family.
