Summary
The SNES version of Pac‑In‑Time reworks the 1993 Fury of the Furries engine into an entirely new experience, swapping in Pac‑Man’s iconic look while keeping the side‑scrolling platform foundation. Players guide Pac‑Man through freshly designed levels, collecting pellets, fruit for health, and unlocking treasure chests with keys for extra lives. A handful of tools—rope, fireball, hammer and swim shoes—turn puzzle rooms into a playful toolbox, and Power Pellets still turn ghosts blue and edible. Every five stages a password appears to keep progress, and the Japanese release ups the difficulty with instant‑death traps and tighter layouts. The title later resurfaced as part of Pac‑Man Museum+, preserving the quirky graphics for a modern audience.
Storyline
Pac‑In‑Time thrusts Pac‑Man five years into his own past after the Ghost Witch casts a time‑bending spell. The game drops him in 1975, where he must race through five distinct worlds—mountain ranges, sleepy villages, looming castles, and two others—each split into ten tightly designed levels. The core objective is simple yet addictive: collect every Pac‑Dot to unlock the exit door while dodging ghosts and environmental hazards that chip away at his life bar. Power Pellets give Pac‑Man a brief chance to turn the tables and eat the pursuing spirits. After solving platform puzzles and back‑tracking through each area, the climax pits him against the Ghost Witch herself; defeating her restores the timeline and sends him back to the present.
