Summary

The Ninja Gaiden Trilogy packs all three original NES adventures onto a single SNES cartridge, letting me follow Ryu as he battles ancient darkness with his Ninjutsu tricks. The collection isn’t a fresh remake; it’s a straight port, but the team added a few SNES‑specific touches: every level now starts with a password, the cinematic cut‑scenes were redrawn, and the third title uses the Japanese script, granting infinite continues and softer enemy hits. You’ll notice the usual family‑friendly polish – the blood pool that was once bright red is now a muted green, pentagrams have vanished, and some background parallax scrolling was stripped (for example, stage 2‑1 of Ninja Gaiden III). A handful of tracks were cut, including two pieces from the third game and the stage 1‑1 music that played during the second game’s pursuit cut‑scenes. Interestingly, a line of dialogue that was once censored returns in its original form – Jaquio now shouts, “Damn, he’s awake.” All of this makes the SNES version a nostalgic, slightly altered snapshot of the classic series.
