Summary

Natsuki Crisis Battle, the quirky fighting title that landed only on the Japanese Super Famicom, pulls its vibe straight from the short‑run OVA and manga by Hiroshi Tsuruta that appeared in Business Jump. I love how the game hands you eight distinct fighters, each with their own quirks, and then drops you into surprisingly varied stages – from the cramped mats of a budō gym to the open‑air chaos outside a high school. The environments feel like a love‑letter to the source material, letting fans of the manga relive those comic panels in pixel form. Even without a Western release, the title’s blend of anime‑style storytelling and classic 2‑D combat makes it a hidden gem worth hunting down for any retro‑fighting aficionado.

Storyline

Natsuki Crisis Battle follows Natsuki Kisumi, a red‑gi‑clad karate prodigy at Goujyu High School. In story mode she must battle a roster of classmates while wearing her school uniform, starting with the flirtatious pretty‑boy Naoya Hondō. Her rivals include Rina Takaoka, a diminutive but skilled amateur wrestler who uses a “cat‑as‑catch‑can” style, the powerfully built Akira Kandori, and the karate club captain Masaaki Yanagisawa, whose strength rivals Natsuki’s own. The plot thickens when Rina transfers in and her former teammates from Jotoh Academy arrive to punish her for leaving their famed martial‑arts school, adding Bigaro and Tsuguo Nabeshima and the mysterious Endo to the lineup. As the fights progress, Natsuki’s resolve and friendships are tested against this eclectic group of opponents.
