Summary

Nage Libre – also known simply as Nage Libre – is a quirky 1995 Super Famicom title that blends a fighting game with a Yu‑Gi‑Oh!‑style card system. Instead of button‑mashing combos, you draw and play cards that dictate every offensive and defensive move. The cast is made up of high‑school nymphs, and the extracurricular activity you pick at the start of a stage actually tweaks their attack power, adding a surprisingly strategic layer. The on‑screen menu offers commands like stand‑by, attack, item, exchange, pocketbell, anime, and save, each of which triggers a different card‑based action. Every card can modify not just damage but also defense, hit points and even the characters’ costumes, turning battles into a constantly shifting puzzle. When it launched, Famicom Tsūshin gave the game a modest 23 out of 40, reflecting its niche appeal and experimental design.

Storyline

Nage Libre – Seijaku no Suishin (often just called Nage Libre) follows five wandering nymphs who accidentally slip into a strange realm known as Nage. Stranded far from their own world, the nymphs are forced into constant battles as they search for a way back home. Their journey is a relentless cycle of fighting, each clash bringing them a step closer—or farther—from the portal that could return them to their original realm.
