Summary
The Miracle Piano Teaching System turns a standard video‑game console into a piano tutor by pairing a full‑size MIDI keyboard with a cartridge (or floppy) that runs on‑screen lessons. After plugging the supplied keyboard, foot pedals and cables into the console, the software drives the keys with visual prompts while the instrument’s own ROM generates the sound, so the console itself never produces music except for a simple metronome.
Hundreds of lessons cover everything from classical pieces to rock and show‑tune styles, and the system can even build custom exercises based on a player’s performance. To keep things playful, the program includes mini‑games: Robo Man collapses if you miss a bridge‑building note, a duck‑hunting stage lets you “shoot” birds by hitting the right staff positions, and Ripchord drops paratroopers when you nail the correct chord.
Priced at about US$500, the kit was marketed as the perfect complement to formal piano lessons, but its steep cost kept sales modest despite releases across the United States and Europe.
