Summary

Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge (often just called Metal Combat) lets you strap into the cockpit of a giant mech called the Standing Tank Falcon and fire the Super Scope at incoming enemies as the screen scrolls automatically. The core battle mode is a single‑player gauntlet where you chase weak points, intercept missiles, and collect power‑ups like Neutron Beams and Plasma Bombs, while the ST can charge up to three energy bolts for a treble shot. Four distinct play styles keep things fresh: a timed run for speed‑run fans, a tutorial led by the instructor Rola, a versus mode that pits a Super Scope‑wielding Falcon against a controller‑controlled enemy tank, and the main story‑driven campaign that unlocks the more fragile but ammo‑rich ST Tornado piloted by Carol Eugene.

Developed by Intelligent Systems’ Team Battle Clash under director Toshitaka Muramatsu and composer Yuka Tsujiyoko, the game runs on a 2 MB cartridge with the OBC‑1 sprite‑enhancement chip. Released only in the West because the Super Scope never caught on in Japan, it earned praise for its vivid graphics, deep multiplayer, and refined combat, even if some reviewers noted occasional flicker and a brief single‑player story.

Storyline

Three years after the defeat of the tyrannical emperor Anubis at the hands of Mike Anderson, a new era of prosperity begins to rise on Earth. In Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge (often just called Falcon's Revenge), players take the role of the gunner aboard the Standing Tank Falcon, while Mike pilots the vehicle through a series of Battle Game missions. The campaign pits them against a roster of hostile chiefs, the resurrected Anubis, and an unexpected alien invasion. The Eltorians, a conquering race, pour into the Solar System, forcing Mike and his tank to defend the planet from a wave of extraterrestrial forces. Near the climax, an enormous alien mothership named Eltoria appears, drawing Mike into a final showdown with Anubis aboard the colossal ship.
