Summary
Makeruna! Makendou 2 – Kimero! Youkai Souridaijin, known abroad as Kendo Rage 2, is a quirky 2D fighter that sneaks RPG mechanics into the classic arcade formula. While the core of the game feels familiar—two‑player, best‑of‑three bouts on a single screen—the characters level up between matches, unlocking fresh magical attacks that feel more like spells than punches. This progression system rewards you for grinding in the tournament mode, turning each victory into a tangible power boost rather than just a score. The combo system is traditional for a Super Famicom title, but the added layer of spell‑casting gives the fights a strategic twist you don’t see in most 90s fighters. Even though it never left Japan, the game’s blend of martial‑arts action and fantasy growth loops makes it a hidden gem for anyone who loves a fighting game with a little extra depth.
Storyline
Makeruna! Makendou 2 – Kimero! Youkai Souridaijin (often just called Makendou 2) follows the chaotic adventures of three unlikely heroes. The story centers on Makenko, a regular boy who is abducted by the brain‑monster Dr. Mud and turned into a powerful cyborg capable of threatening both monster and human realms. Seeking revenge and a way to reclaim his original body, he is reluctantly teamed up with Makendo, a monster hunter who would rather be elsewhere, and her enthusiastic little sister Hikari Tsurugino, the sibling of the original game’s protagonist. Together they battle a parade of wacky monsters and dastardly demons, aiming to defeat Dr. Mud, restore Makenko’s humanity, and save both worlds from destruction.
