Summary
Kablooey (the SNES version of Bombuzal) is a brain‑teasing puzzle where you must clear every one of its 130 stages by detonating all the bombs. You light a bomb by stepping on it, then you can only retreat a single tile before the blast, forcing you to plan chain reactions that ripple across the grid. The game lets you toggle between a classic overhead perspective and a slick isometric view, giving each level a fresh visual feel. Bombs come in three sizes, but only the smallest can be ignited safely, so you have to use the larger ones as indirect triggers that explode farther out.
The levels were crafted by a roster of British gaming legends—including Jon Ritman, Andrew Braybrook, Geoff Crammond, and Jeff Minter—so each puzzle feels distinct. Two roaming hazards, Sinister and Dexter, patrol certain stages; one always turns left, the other always right, and touching either is instant death. Their predictable paths add a timing element without actively hunting you, turning every level into a delicate dance of movement and explosion.
