Summary

Habu Meijin no Omoshiro Shōgi is a Shogi‑themed title that landed exclusively on the Super Famicom in 1995. The game carries the endorsement and supervision of Yoshiharu Habu, Japan’s most celebrated shogi master, and it was crafted by Access before being published by Tomy Corporation.

When it arrived, the Japanese magazine Famicom Tsūshin gave it a modest 25 out of 40, hinting that the novelty of a celebrity‑backed board‑game conversion wasn’t enough to wow critics. Still, for anyone curious about how shogi was packaged for a console audience in the mid‑90s, this quirky, Japan‑only release offers a nostalgic glimpse into that era.
