Summary
FIFA International Soccer introduced an isometric, or dimetric, view that made the pitch feel three‑dimensional, a fresh look compared to the bird‑eye angles of its rivals. The game lets you pick from 48 national squads plus an EA All Stars side, each with a full roster of 20 players whose abilities are rated out of ten, and you can switch control between any of the eleven on‑field players at will. Up to four friends can join in, each handling a different footballer, while four distinct modes – Exhibition, Tournament, Playoffs and League – give everything from a single friendly match to a World‑Cup‑style knockout run. Presentation is surprisingly TV‑like, with hosts introducing fixtures and, on the PC CD‑ROM, Tony Gubba’s commentary adding a broadcast feel. Critics praised the SNES version for its lightning‑quick action, crisp graphics, digitized crowd chants and a gameplay balance that welcomes newcomers yet rewards skillful passing and long‑range shooting.
