Summary

Extra Innings on the SNES lets you dive into a surprisingly deep baseball experience despite its modest roster of twelve fictional clubs. You can even craft two custom squads, giving a personal touch to the league. The game offers four distinct modes: a flexible Exhibition that supports solo or duo play, a head‑to‑head All‑Star showdown strictly for two players, a season‑spanning Pennant Race where six teams battle through a player‑chosen number of games, and a Watch mode that simply lets you sit back as the AI squares off. Gameplay is presented from behind the batter, with both hitting and pitching sharing that perspective. Options are plentiful—toggle automatic or manual fielding, switch errors and wind on or off, decide whether to skip or view opponents’ pennant matches, and even enable the “Cold Game” rule that ends a contest once a team leads by a set run margin. All these features combine to make Extra Innings a surprisingly customizable retro baseball gem.
