Summary

The Duel: Test Drive II lets you slip behind the wheel of exotic supercars like the Porsche 959, Ferrari F40 and the SNES‑exclusive Lamborghini Diablo, then tear down four distinct American highways. Each course—Desert Blast, City Bound, East Coast and West Coast—offers a different backdrop, from Southwest deserts to a Seattle skyline, complete with bridges, tunnels and on‑coming traffic that feels surprisingly real for a 16‑bit title. You can race against the clock or a computer‑controlled rival, and the difficulty you pick decides whether you’ll be shifting gears manually or letting the game handle it. The game rewards clean runs: finish a level without crashing or running out of gas and you’ll snag a bonus life, while any crash adds a hefty thirty‑second penalty and police collisions end the run instantly. A built‑in radar detector warns you of speed‑limit triggers, and if you get pulled over you’ll lose time to a ticket rather than a life, keeping the tension high until you finally pull into the gas station at the end of each stretch.

Storyline

The Duel: Test Drive II puts you behind the wheel of exotic sports cars as you blaze across public highways throughout the United States, tearing through deserts, cities, coasts and mountain roads while dodging traffic. Every time you exceed the speed limit, police cars give chase, and if they manage to overtake you a ticket is issued, adding a ticking clock to the race. The game’s narrative builds toward a final police showdown that determines your fate.

If you manage to evade the law, an animated female police officer meets you at the end and the two share a smile, signaling a triumphant escape. Should the police catch you for any infraction, the same officer places you under arrest, ending the game with a police‑driven conclusion.
