Summary

Dragon View takes the Drakkhen name into a bold new direction on the SNES. The game mixes side‑scrolling combat with a first‑person overworld that feels like real‑time 3D despite the console’s modest power. By using sprite scaling and simple shading, the engine creates a sense of depth without any special chips, keeping the top and bottom UI bars static while the world scrolls smoothly around you. Exploring towns and dungeons feels like a true RPG hybrid, and the “Hero’s Eye View” drops you straight into the action where a missed blink can cost you dear. Even years later a Limited Run Games reproduction cartridge brought the same pseudo‑3D adventure back to the hardware, letting a new generation experience the quirky blend of puzzle‑solving, magic and swordplay.

Storyline

In Dragon View, you awaken as a warrior called to face a world split between blazing caverns and frozen meadows. The journey forces you to open your eyes to the dangers lurking in fire‑filled tunnels and icy fields.

Along the way you clash with brutal demons and unforeseen evils that test every skill you possess. All roads converge on a showdown you’ll never forget, sealing the legend of the sword.
