Summary

Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 2 builds on the original SNES fighter with a handful of upgrades that feel fresh even today. The split‑screen system returns, now paired with a clearer on‑screen radar so you can track opponents across sprawling arenas, including the new water‑based stages that add a splash of strategy.

The control layout sticks to a six‑button scheme, but the game expands the toolbox: dash left or right with L and R, charge Ki by holding Y + B, and unleash counter‑attacks that let you flip an opponent’s special move back on them. Meteor combos let most characters chain attacks together, a feature that was limited to Goku in the first title.

Eight fighters populate the roster—Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo, Cell, Cell Jr., Bojack and Zangya—while Goku and Broly hide behind cheat codes. Each character also brings their signature transformations, giving the championship battles a deeper, more varied feel.

Storyline

Dragon Ball Z - Super Butouden 2 (often just called Super Butouden 2) picks up right after the Cell Games arc and adds a side‑story that pulls in characters from the movies Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan and Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound. The game’s Legend Mode lets players replay the Cell Saga in a free‑combat format, giving fans a chance to relive the battles with the added movie villains on the same screen.
