Summary

Dekitate High School (できたてハイスクール) feels like a love letter to 90s Japanese school life, its cover painted by the legendary illustrator Nishiki Yoshimune and its characters sketched by C‑Lab’s in‑house team. It earned the distinction of being the Super Famicom’s first high‑school simulation, blending everyday classroom duties with city‑building flair.

You step into the shoes of a teacher, tasked with steering a star pupil toward top grades and campus fame while you pour a mountain of yen into constructing your own school. The menu‑driven interface lets you assign every class, lay down sprawling lawns for students to hang out, and stack up to four floors—the ceiling for a real Tokyo high school. Natural disasters like earthquakes or floods can dent tuition income, but most repairs are cheap enough to keep the campus humming.

A frantic track‑and‑field mini‑game adds a burst of button‑mashing excitement, and the title supports two save files, a music‑only mode, and a handy option to skip all dialogue at any moment, all without any voiced lines.

Storyline

In Dekitate High School, you play as a teacher guiding a single female student from admission through three school years to graduation. You can name the student and manage her education, social life, and extracurricular activities across a full school day using menus and multiple‑choice dialogs from a first‑person perspective. The narrative shows you teaching kanji, arithmetic, and other subjects while also socializing with her. Random events such as earthquakes or floods can affect the school’s reputation and the student’s success. Depending on your choices and her performance, the game can end in any of 18 different outcomes, ranging from a game over to the best ending.
