Summary
Julio César Chávez on the SNES lets you step into the ring as a rookie boxer with a single goal: take down the undefeated champ. The game’s Career mode is surprisingly deep – you actually age as you climb the ladder, and every punch you throw is logged in a detailed stat sheet. With a roster of 65 opponents, 25 of them are ranked and each brings a distinct fighting style, so you never face the same challenge twice. Between bouts you head to the gym for training sessions that feel tailored to the next opponent, even giving you a specific regimen to counter the likes of Bowe. By the time you finally line up a shot at Chávez, you’ll have built a fighter who’s as seasoned as the legend himself.
Storyline
In the SNES title Chavez, the titular mentor dishes out plenty of advice throughout your journey, but don’t expect him to hold back when the final showdown arrives. When it’s time to square off against him, he proves to be a relentless opponent, testing everything you’ve learned.
