Summary

Castlevania: Dracula X (known as Vampire's Kiss in Europe) landed on the Super NES in 1995 as a reimagined take on the PC Engine classic Rondo of Blood. Konami kept much of the original’s art but swapped out the CD‑based save system for a password scheme, and they trimmed the level count to fit the cartridge’s limits. The game still offers branching paths, yet it drops Maria Renard as a playable character, focusing solely on Richter’s quest. Depending on whether you rescue Annet and her sister Maria, just Maria, or neither, the ending shifts, giving three distinct conclusions. After its initial run in Japan, North America, Europe and Australia, Dracula X resurfaced on Wii U, New 3DS and the Castlevania Advance Collection, keeping the SNES version alive for new fans.

Storyline

Set in medieval Transylvania, centuries after the legendary hero Simon Belmont sealed the evil Count Dracula, the people have long forgotten the horror of the undead. A few depraved individuals manage to revive the Count, who now sleeps in his coffin by day and preys on victims by night.

Seeking revenge on Simon’s bloodline, Dracula kidnaps Richter Belmont’s girlfriend Annet and her little sister Maria, imprisoning them in his castle. Richter grabs his ancestor’s sacred whip and storms the fortress to rescue the girls and seal Dracula away for good. The Belmont legacy even includes brave members like Sonia Belmont, who once confronted the vampire lord.
