Summary

Captain Tsubasa 4: Professional Rivals (often shortened to Captain Tsubasa 4) arrived on the Super Famicom on April 3, 1993, continuing the high‑octane soccer drama that began with the original Tecmo titles. As a direct follow‑up to Captain Tsubasa 3: Koutei no Chousen, it kept the series’ signature over‑the‑top moves but, according to contemporary reports, the graphics fell a step behind its predecessor’s crisp sprites. Despite that visual dip, the game resonated with Japanese fans, climbing to the top of Famitsu’s sales chart in its launch month. Its Japan‑only release has turned it into a collector’s curiosity, especially for retro enthusiasts hunting the full Captain Tsubasa saga.
