Summary

Bike Daisuki! Hashiriya Damashii – Rider's Spirits is a quirky SNES racing title that lets you feel the rush of motorcycle competition. The game’s visual flair comes from its dual‑view system: a conventional third‑person camera and a first‑person perspective that mimics looking through a bike’s rear‑view mirrors, complete with a pair of mirrors on screen.

You can pick from eight riders split into four archetypes, each balancing speed, handling and acceleration. Tracks range from icy slicks to dusty dirt, rough cobblestones and slick asphalt, and they throw in pit‑stop items that affect your bike’s performance. A standout “Chicken Race” mode sends you down a ramp where you must brake as close to the edge as possible without crashing, while a fuel gauge keeps you mindful of your endurance.

Two‑player and four‑player split‑screen races let friends battle head‑to‑head, and the game even supports an endurance Grand Prix across five courses. Drifting, wheelies and careful fuel management add layers of strategy beyond simply crossing the finish line.

Under the hood, Rider's Spirits runs on the DSP‑1 chip—the same math‑heavy processor that powered Super Mario Kart—giving it smooth 3D calculations. Critics at the time noted the strong resemblance to Mario Kart, dubbing it a “Mario Kart clone,” yet it earned respectable scores, including an 89% rating from Mega Fun and solid marks from Video Games and CVG.
