Summary

Beethoven: The Ultimate Canine Caper (often just called Beethoven's 2nd) lets you step into the paws of the lovable St. Bernard from the movie. It’s a side‑scrolling platformer that mixes classic run‑and‑jump action with a few quirky canine tricks.

Your main weapon is a supersonic bark that can be powered up with a growl charge, and if you splash yourself in water you can shake it off to blast nearby foes—perfect for clearing out dogcatchers and nosy cats. Each stage is split in two: first you hunt down a missing puppy, then you escort the rescued pup back to its mother, Missy, while still fending off enemies.

All four of Beethoven’s puppies must be saved, and once you drop a rescued one it will wander on its own, but you still have to carry it over hazards and keep fighting. The game’s graphics were praised for capturing the movie’s charm, and Nintendo Power gave it a modest 2.475‑out‑of‑5 rating.

Storyline

Beethoven’s 2nd – The Ultimate Canine Caper! (often just called Beethoven’s 2nd) kicks off when the big St. Bernard’s four puppies vanish. Determined father Beethoven scours the neighborhood, hunting down each missing pup while dodging a parade of obstacles. Along the way he faces snarling dogcatchers, hostile cats, falling acorns that drop the moment he passes underneath, and reckless skateboarders who zip by without warning. Each rescued puppy is reunited with their mother, Missy, restoring the family’s peace. The game’s simple yet charming premise turns a suburban stroll into a frantic, puppy‑saving adventure.
