Summary

Astérix & Obélix on the SNES lets you team up with a friend—or go solo—as the mischievous Gaulish heroes. I can jump, run and punch my way through Roman outposts while hunting for the famous artifacts scattered across a cartoonish version of Europe circa 50 BC. Each stage nods to a classic comic adventure: battling Roman legions in Britain, dodging alpine hazards in Switzerland, racing in the Olympic Games, scheming in Cleopatra’s Egypt and navigating the sunny hills of Spain. The game sprinkles in goofy bonus rounds—a rag‑tag rugby match and a frantic Olympics mini‑game—that feel oddly satisfying on a cartridge. A simple password system lets you return to the hunt without restarting from the first gauntlet. With bright, hand‑drawn sprites and two‑player co‑op, the title captures the comic’s tongue‑in‑cheek spirit while delivering solid side‑scrolling action.

Storyline

In Astérix & Obélix for the SNES, the adventure kicks off with either Asterix or Obelix wandering through their home village, then venturing into a nearby forest. After clearing the woods they set sail across the sea, aiming for the distant shores of Britain.
The journey doesn’t stop there; the game sends the Gauls to a series of historic lands. Players trek through Britania, then march into Helvetia, explore the ruins of Grecia, wander the deserts of Egyptia, and finally confront challenges in Hispania.
