Summary

The SNES version of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends whisks you through seven distinct stages, from a snow‑capped Alpine peak to a spooky haunted ship, each packed with the cartoon’s signature humor. You can flip between Rocky, the quick‑flying squirrel, and Bullwinkle, the bumbling moose, with Rocky’s short bursts of flight and Bullwinkle’s mooseberry‑and‑acorn projectiles replacing traditional bombs. Along the way, the game sprinkles in two quirky mini‑games: a bubble‑gum‑blowing challenge starring Sherman in "Peabody and Sherman," and a horse‑riding dash with Dudley Do‑Right trying to outrun Snidely Whiplash’s runaway train. These side activities reward extra lives, giving a nice break from the side‑scrolling platform action. Critics were split on the experience, noting scores that ranged from solid mid‑70s percentages to more lukewarm 50‑plus marks, reflecting the mixed reception the title received on the SNES.

Storyline

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends (often just called Rocky & Bullwinkle) on the SNES kicks off at the grand dedication of the Frostbite Falls museum honoring the famous duo. During the ceremony, the bumbling villains Boris and Natasha slip into the role of security guards and manage to swipe three priceless artifacts from the museum’s collection. The theft sets the stage for Rocky and Bullwinkle’s quest through a series of peril‑filled levels as they chase down the stolen items. Their goal is to recover each artifact and restore order to Frostbite Falls, confronting the disguised foes along the way.
