Summary

Yonin Shōgi, often called Four‑Person Shogi, brings the classic Japanese chess onto the SNES with a twist: up to four players can battle simultaneously. The game can be played using a special yonin shogi set, but it also works with two ordinary shogi sets arranged on a regular‑sized board, making it surprisingly accessible. Each participant guards their own king, and the win condition is simply to capture the opposing kings—either as a lone wolf or by forming temporary alliances with one or two allies. Because the board is shared, pieces move and clash at a frantic pace, and matches tend to finish quickly, keeping the tension high. I love how the multiplayer chaos feels like a strategic free‑for‑all that still rewards careful planning.
