Summary

Pac‑Mania takes the classic dot‑eating chase and throws it into a fresh, isometric world where the maze scrolls to keep up with Pac‑Man’s every move. The biggest twist is the jump mechanic – a simple hop lets you vault over a pursuing ghost, but the trick soon spreads to a couple of new foes, green‑toting Funky and the un‑jumpable grey Spunky, adding a layer of timing that feels both nostalgic and surprising. Power pellets still turn the ghosts blue and vulnerable, and special red and green pellets crank up points or speed for a short burst. Four distinct stages – Block Town, Pac‑Man’s Park, Sandbox Land and Jungly Steps – rotate in a loop, each with its own layout quirks like wrap‑around edges. The Master System version, handled by TecMagik, was a Europe‑only release that kept the arcade’s scrolling action intact. Critics praised the game’s inventive spin on the formula, noting its smooth blend of familiar chase gameplay with the fresh verticality of jumping.
