Storyline

In the Sega Master System version of Ninja Gaiden, you play as Ryu Hayabusa, a member of the ancient Dragon Ninja clan that has guarded Japan for generations. While away from home, Ryu receives word that the Dragon Village has been brutally massacred, leaving only one dying survivor who reveals that the sacred Bushido scroll—capable of granting world‑changing power—has been stolen. Determined to recover the scroll, Ryu sets out to confront the evil Shogun of Darkness and his bizarre cadre of foes, which include a Sumo Wrestler, a Yakuza Oyabun, a Tsutenkaku Samurai, a Jetpack Soldier, an Ice Monster, and a Stone Golem. The game exists in two narrative versions: one tells the story directly through Ryu’s own detailed perspective, while the other uses an external narrator, resulting in slight variations in dialogue and character names.
