Summary

The Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck rolls onto the Sega Master System as a bright, side‑scrolling platformer that lets you swing a hammer and fling discs at the magical foes blocking your path. I love how the game rewards speed: collecting star icons not only speeds up your attacks but five of them grant a brief shield of invulnerability, while a ticking timer keeps the action humming. When Donald takes a hit he drops his hammer, turning a simple stumble into a mini‑quest to defeat an enemy and reclaim the tool as a bonus drop. The adventure spans seven distinct stages—Northern Woods, Great American Forest, Andes Mountains, Tropical Isles, the Pyramids, the South Pole, and finally Magica’s Castle—each offering back‑track routes that feel surprisingly open for a 1991 title. In the UK, the game arrived in a limited‑edition box set that bundled a Donald‑themed T‑shirt and a cassette tape packed with eight classic Disney tunes, turning a regular cartridge into a collectible treasure.

Storyline

Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck (often just called Lucky Dime Caper) puts you in the webbed shoes of Donald as he races around the globe to rescue his nephews. The nefarious witch Magica De Spell has stolen Scrooge McDuck’s famed Number One Dime—referred to in the game as the Lucky Dime—and kidnapped Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Donald must trek through six treacherous lands, each filled with classic platform hazards and quirky enemies. Along the way he battles Magica’s minions and solves simple puzzles to press onward. The ultimate goal is to recover the Lucky Dimes and bring the three ducklings safely back to their uncle.
